The Super Eagles have arrived in Russia ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup

The players and coaches landed in their Essentuki base late on Monday night at about 11pm Nigerian time.

Their arrival time was affected by slight delays in their flight from Austria, where they had been training following their friendly matches.

Gernot Rohr’s men are expected to have their first training session following their arrival on Tuesday.

They are the last team in Group D to arrive in Russia for the tournament, with Argentina and Iceland jetting in on Saturday.

Croatia arrived in Russia on Monday afternoon.
Nigeria will take on Croatia in their opening Group D fixture on Saturday at the Kaliningrad Stadium.

The former Vice president, Atiku Abubakar has sent message to the Super Eagles as they depart for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The Super Eagles team departed for Russia on Monday in white and green traditional attire.
Atiku, writing alongside a picture of the team, urged them to make Nigerians proud at the World Cup.

The former president stated that millions of Nigerians were behind the Eagles, as he prayed for their success.

He tweeted “My dear Super Eagles, as you depart for the World Cup in Russia, be assured of the prayers and support of millions of Nigerians as you seek to do us proud.”

We Are Not Withdrawing ‘This Is Nigeria’ Video – Falz’s Management Replies MURIC

Popular rapper, Folarin Falana, aka Falz the Bahd Guy, has said that he did not foresee the magnitude of the responses to his latest video, This is Nigeria, saying the rejoinders have really encouraged him to continue the trend.

Falz said this on Tuesday in an interview with AFP.
He noted that Nigerians are ready for a return to the days of music maestro, Fela Kuti, when musicians used their high profile to address political and social issues.
Falz’s latest track This is Nigeria — an adaptation of US performer Childish Gambino’s This is America — has racked up more than four million views on YouTube in just two weeks.
In it, he highlights widespread violence and corruption in Africa’s most populous nation, in stark contrast to fellow artists and their fixation with wealth and status.
The 27-year-old performer acknowledged that his subject matter — from Boko Haram Islamists and disputes over land and water to crooked police and politicians — was controversial.
“But I didn’t foresee the magnitude of the response… This has really encouraged me to continue doing that,” he said.
“Everyone is carried away with our entertainment and enjoyment of life and we forget that a lot of things are really happening here…
“There are a lot of things that we need to constantly talk about so that somehow there should be a recognition of this… People feel that the Fela Kuti’s spirit needs to come back.”
Fela, the self-styled “Black President” and pioneer of Afrobeat, was known as much for his outspoken political and social views during years of military rule as for his music.
Falz’s real name is Folarin Falana. His father, the leading human rights lawyer Femi Falana, once represented Fela.
The rapper said his father, whose speeches are sampled at the beginning and end of “This is Nigeria”, had been a major influence.
Musicians had to recognise they also had a position of power, with a “huge voice” that should be used as a force for good.
Nigeria is entering a highly charged period before elections in February next year in which President Muhammadu Buhari hopes to secure a second term.
Already, the former military ruler’s record on tackling insecurity, cutting corruption and boosting the economy is coming under close scrutiny.
Until Buhari’s victory over Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, no opposition candidate had ever unseated an incumbent president at the ballot box in Nigeria.
Falz said it was important for the country’s massive youth population to understand they have the power to change their future, including the problems outlined in “This is Nigeria”.
“It’s a democratic system of government, it’s government of the people,” he said.
“So, if people don’t actually go out there to vote, we’re still going to be stuck in the same mess that we complain about.
“So, you have to go out there, register, get a PVC (permanent voters card) and make sure that when the election comes that you actually vote.”
Ironically, Fela’s son Seun Kuti — also a musician — this week appeared to suggest the opposite, urging people to be wary of the political process.
“Don’t let anyone force you to endorse their system until you are sure it represents you,” he said in a fiery post on his Instagram account.
“Time to cast a vote of no confidence in the political system and build our own! This is the task of the #liberationgeneration.”

WHAT PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN TAUGHT ME - BISHOP TD JAKES

Lessons on love from Prince Harry's engagement to Meghan Markle

I am absolutely thrilled about Prince Harry’s engagement to Meghan Markle. I’ve read articles about the engagement and watched the interviews and smiled. One reason I’m excited is that both Meghan and I graduated from Northwestern University. Go Wildcats! But the main reason I’m overjoyed is that I’m a romantic at heart and their love story confirms what I’ve been telling singles for years in seminars and in my book 1st Class Single.

If a Man is Interested, He will pursue you!

You won’t have to convince him to make a move. He’s a man. He knows what he wants. Prince Harry was asked when did he know Meghan was the one? He answered, “The first time we met.”

He began pursuing her. They shared in the BBC interview that they never went more than two weeks without getting together. They were on two different continents! He was a prince. She was a busy actress. They found time, made time for each other because the relationship was a priority. Are you in a relationship where he doesn’t have time for you and he lives in the same town or he tells you he doesn’t believe in long distance relationships? Then remember one of my other dating rules:

Look at the Signs...then Wonder!

Prince Harry’s actions spoke louder than his words. He had his choice of many women, but he wanted Meghan! He was willing to defy the critics, the naysayers who objected to him marrying a commoner, a woman of mixed race descent.  Is the man of your dreams giving you an “if only” list for Christmas? If only you would lose weight, if only you were younger, if only you didn’t have kids, if only? Read the tea leaves: He doesn’t want you. You are NOT his package. Release him. Let him go! The man God has for you will not see you as a liability but as a precious gift. He will accept you and ALL your baggage. We all come with baggage. We are all flawed. Imperfect. We are all sinners in need of the grace of God.

Think about Ruth’s story in the Old Testament. One rich man noticed her and wanted her as his wife. But first, he had to give the option to another relative who could be her kinsman-redeemer. When presented with the opportunity, the other man saw Ruth’s “baggage” as a liability. She (like Meghan) came from a mixed racial heritage the Jews considered inferior. She was poor and a widow. Baggage. But Boaz saw beauty, kindness, virtue, and love. The same woman viewed differently by two different men. She became the great-grandmother of King David. What a royal lineage!

Don’t give up on the dream of being chosen. Be the best of who you are. Don’t apologize about your past, what you cannot control. Meghan says she is proud of her heritage. Be a woman of faith, move forward, and expect your prince to pick you. He will be worth the wait. God always gives His Best to those who leave the choice with Him.

5 foods that help reduce your risk of having cancer

One large study found that eating citrus fruits such as lemons, limes, grapefruits, and oranges have been associated with a lower risk of cancer.

Studies have shown that there are many factors that contribute to the risk of having cancer.

While some of them, such as genetics and environment, are beyond our ability to control, 70% of cancer risk factors are within our ability to change.
Apart from avoiding cigarettes, limiting alcohol, reaching a healthy weight, and getting regular exercise, it is important to note that one way to prevent and treat cancer is through eating a nutrient-dense diet and avoiding things that are known to increase cancer risk.
It is known to every Dick and Harry that what you eat- and don't eat- have a powerful effect on your health, including your risk of having cancer.

Here are five foods that reduce your cancer risk

1. Tomatoes

Studies have shown that lycopene is a compound found in tomatoes that is responsible for its vibrant red color as well as its anticancer properties. This is why scientists claim that an increased intake of lycopene and tomatoes could lead to a reduced risk of prostate cancer.

However, to increase your intake of lycopene, include a serving or two of tomatoes in your diet each day by adding them to sandwiches, salads, sauces or pasta dishes.

2. Citric fruits

One large study found that eating citrus fruits such as lemons, limes, grapefruits, and oranges have been associated with a lower risk of cancer.
As a matter of fact, participants who ate a higher amount of citrus fruits had a lower risk of developing cancers of the digestive and upper respiratory tracts.

A review looking at nine studies also found that a greater intake of citrus fruits was linked to a reduced risk of pancreatic cancer.
Finally, a review of 14 studies showed that a high intake or at least three servings per week, of citrus fruit, reduced the risk of stomach cancer by 28%.

3. Dates

According to the USDA, dates are higher in total polyphenols than any of the most commonly consumed fruits or vegetables.

And this is due to the fact that they grow in deserts, and the harsh environment causes polyphenols to provide protection from oxidative stress to the palm's fruit. It is, however, important to note that polyphenols, along with vitamin B6 and fiber, may help prevent certain types of cancer.

4. Ginger

One study from the University of Michigan found that the anticancer properties of ginger cause ovarian cancer cells to die. Furthermore, it was also stated that ginger root supplements help reduce inflammation in the colon; suggesting that ginger may have potential as a preventive measure for cancer.

5. Beans

Studies have found that beans are high in fiber, and this fiber has been shown to protect against colorectal cancer. Thus, eating a few servings of beans each week may increase your fiber intake and help lower the risk of developing cancer.
